About Me

劉倢妤 (Liu Chieh-Yu), Sylvia Liu—these names represent me as an individual and embody the identity and complex issues I address through my work.
I am an emerging artist, designer, and curator based in London, holding an MA in Curating Contemporary Design from Kingston University in partnership with the Design Museum, London. With a foundation in fashion design, I bring a unique perspective to textile art, merging design expertise with curatorial insight. My practice explores the intersection of textile art, culinary spaces, non-human entities, and cultural identity, addressing urgent social and environmental issues. I often centre my work around the dinner table as a site for dialogue, creating textile centrepieces inspired by non-human forms and complemented by food design. Through these immersive experiences, I invite audiences to engage in meaningful conversations and push the boundaries of textile art.
For me, dinner is a ritual that connects people. By sharing a meal and exchanging ideas around the table, I transform this everyday setting into a vessel of conviviality, a space where a sense of belonging can flourish and thought-provoking discussions can emerge.
